The recently renovated patio at Chomp Kitchen and Drinks in Warren, RI was packed with smiling faces Wednesday night as the Southcoast’s newest brewery’s beers were flowing from the taps.

Fall River’s Canned Heat took over the taps at Chomp for their first major event since pouring at this year’s Newport Craft Beer Festival this past April.

This event had a homey feel to it, with what appeared to be lots of family and friends of the brewing team. It was a nice change of pace from most tap takeovers that usually just feature a couple brewery reps, some swag, and of course, beer.

Canned Heat was pouring three beers and seemed to have something for everyone on a cool summer night.

First up was Hop Boogie, a NEIPA clocking in at 6% ABV. This featured the typical hazy pour and a nice balance of hops while going down very smoothly.

Next up was Bang a Uey, a 5% ABV witbier with just the right amount of spice. I could easily see myself crushing a couple of cans of this during a summer day at a cookout or a day on the beach.

Finally, B-Boy Stance, a 5.2% ABV coconut brown ale. I’ve personally never been a huge fan of coconut, but this was nice and toasty and definitely not overpowering.

Look for Canned Heat to open its doors later this summer on a fantastic spot on Fall River’s waterfront. They’ll also soon be joined by Troy City Brewing, which plans to open at The Narrows later this year.
