Thanksgiving taproom tour: RI edition

The holiday season is upon us and one of the biggest drinking days of the year is knocking on the door. Each year, bars and taprooms are filled with friends and family on the Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving. Everyone’s returned home for a celebration, so what better place to hang than your local watering hole?

Everyone’s returned home for a celebration, so what better place to hang than your local watering hole?

There’s plenty of fun to be had with so little time, but let’s take a look at what’s going on across the pint-sized state of Rhode Island.

If you’re an hour or less north, here’s a look at what you can find in southern Mass.

Wednesday

Beer on Earth, 12-9 p.m.

Check out one of the Ocean State’s newest breweries as they release a Chocolate Stout brewed in collaboration with Antler Ale Works. Great Harvest Bread Company will be selling pretzels and pizza by the slice. Grab a bite, a pour, and a growler to prepare for Thursday’s festivities. Full event details.

Proclamation Ale Co., 12-10 p.m.

What better way to stock up for the family party than with a double can release? Proc drops two new beers beginning at 10 a.m.

  • Oooh! Raspberries is a deliciously viscous fruit bomb in a can. Contains lactose. 6.9%. $20/4pk. No limits but state.
  • Full Gamma is a new Triple IPA brewed with a bunch flaked, malted, and golden naked oats and hit with a heavy amount of galaxy, azacca, and mosaic hops. 9.5% abv. $19/4pk. No limits but state.

Also, be sure to catch Jeff’s Woodfire Pizza for a slice while you’re there.


Shaidzon Beer Co., 2-8 p.m.

Though the “official” anniversary celebration kicks off on Friday, Shaidzon will be releasing First Anniversary, an Imperial Stout with vanilla beans, cacao, and lactose, a little early. As they said, “After tasting this beer that tastes like straight up liquid tiramisu, we decided you should have this for Thanksgiving along with dessert.”


Buttonwoods Brewery, 3-9 p.m.

Buttonwoods is open to help prepare your fridge as well as your mind for a day filled with turkey, cranberry sauce, and football. (Owner and head brewer Morgan is going to need a few himself to prepare for the potential rout the Redskins are facing Thursday afternoon.) Looks like some bottles of Dream of Flowers are available and you don’t want to miss out. Full event details.

Ragged Island Brewing Co., 4-8 p.m.

Head over the bridge to stock up on cans and grab yourself a FREE slice of pizza! Plenty of beer to try while you’re there with 13 draft lines flowing. Plus three cans available for grab and go, and bottles of Ripples, a kettle sour featuring cranberries, looking for homes. Full event details.

Long Live Beerworks, 4-9 p.m.

Long Live will be open during special hours while dropping a new release: Replica, a DIPA featuring a blend of Nelson Sauvin and Enigma hops. Full event details.

Sons of Liberty, 5-9 p.m.

Whether you’re heading to a household that’s made up of beer lovers, whiskey sippers, or both, Sons of Liberty has you covered with last-minute cans or bottles. While you’re there, don’t be afraid to check out the new cocktail menu of enjoy a flight. Full event details.

Friday

Newport Craft, 12-8 p.m.

“Get your retail therapy fix at Newport Craft this Black Friday! All of our retro Newport Storm merchandise will be half off and while you’re here, be sure to pick up some beer or spirits to take home because, you know, relatives.” Full event details.

LineSider Brewing Co., 12-8 p.m.

Join the fun as LineSider celebrates their grand opening! The taproom’s open for tastings, pours, howlers, and growler fills. Gastros has the grub from noon until 4 p.m. and then Paco’s Taco’s picks up the night shift with 100% authentic Mexicali fare. Full event details.

Shaidzon Beer Co., 1-8 p.m.

Celebrations continue as Shaidzon marks one year in South County. Five beers on tap and plenty to take home. Recuperate from the horror of a morning at the mall with a cold beer and the Take it to the Bride Trio. Full event details.

The taproom’s open to help you decompress after a full day with the in-laws. Grab a pint or a cocktail and do a little shopping while you’re at it. Plenty of great deals on spirits and gift cards, plus live music 6-9 p.m. Full event details.

LineSider Brewing Co., 12-5 p.m.

It’s day two of the grand opening weekend at LineSider. The taproom remains open for tastings as pours as well as howler and growler fills. Plus, Jeff’s Wood Fired Pizza will be slingin’ pies from noon until 4 p.m. Full event details.
